The HMS Chatham's Cutter

The HMS Chatham's Cutter
The original was built prior to 1792, and was dispatched from the HMS Chatham in Youngs Bay for the purpose of exploring and mapping the Columbia River. Of course Lewis and Clark came down the river in 1805 or 1806 and had already mapped it. According to Lt. Broughton, the vessel's coxswain and as noted in his journal, they went upriver as far as present day Washougal, and turned around and returned to Youngs Bay near Astoria, Or.

I would like to thank a friend for the many things he's done to save this boat from decaying and being lost forever and the valuable info he is able to pass on. Thank You! Garron Guest for all you have done as a Volunteer at  Fort Vancouver and your time invested in her for all to see. She is Beautiful!
